Ziortza – Bolibar

Ziortza-Bolibar, an enclave below Mount Oiz that is a place of natural beauty and history. It consists of two centres, Ziortza and Bolibar, the later known as the birthplace of the ancestors of Simón Bolívar.

Of note is the Zenarruza collegiate church, a monumental complex of the Way of St. James, and the Simón Bolívar Museum, which explores local medieval life and the Liberator himself.

The Santo Tomás church is home to a chapel dedicated to the patron saint of Venezuela, Our Lady of Coromoto, connecting this corner of the Basque Country to Latin America.
