At this workshop in Ordizia’s Delikatuz Centre you will learn how to make talo, a kind of bread traditionally made with cornflour in the Basque Country. Until the 19th century this was the bread eaten daily in the local farmhouses. Today it is made for special occasions. In this experience we will travel the first stage of the Ignatian Way. Leaving the Sanctuary behind, we will start the route that runs parallel to the river, taking the GR-120 or the GR-286 depending on the physical condition or taste of the client.

Gernika was and has been since time immemorial a place full of symbolism and importance for the Basque people as a symbol of democracy and historical rights. Nothing could do more damage in Euskadi than destroying the town that saw the first Basque Lehendakari swear under the Gernika tree. The international press echoed the bombing of Gernika, news of the first order and totally shocking, taking into account the disproportionate force of the attack against such a small and defenseless target. This fact inspired Picasso to complete "Guernica", the most famous painting of the s. XX. In 1987, with the 50th anniversary of the bombing, work began on the development of the values of a Culture of Peace and Reconciliation from the village. This trajectory has been reflected in the international recognition granted by UNESCO by granting Gernika-Lumo the “Cities for Peace Award” for the European Region.
